The cause of the fire is still unclear: a forest fire has broken out again in the Harz Mountains.
At Stiege in Saxony-Anhalt, around 2,500 square meters were affected on a steep slope, said a spokesman for the Harz integrated control center.
Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk reports that 20,000 square meters were on fire.
According to the control center, around twelve fire brigades were deployed to extinguish the fire.
In addition, a helicopter from Thuringia was requested to fight the fire from the air.
There had been at least two major fires in the Harz Mountains in the past few weeks.
A fire broke out on the eastern side of the Harz Mountains at the end of April.
Saxony-Anhalt's Forest Minister Sven Schulze (CDU) had meanwhile announced that the state wanted to campaign for forest fires in Germany to be identified and fought more quickly in the future.
This would be possible through the expansion of computer and camera systems and the use of helicopters, also for extinguishing work in areas that are difficult to access.
On Monday, the federal and state agricultural ministers want to discuss the risk of forest fires.
