Gauting - Yesterday, fortunate circumstances prevented a single pensioner in Gauting from falling victim to an extremely perfidious scam by con artists.

The 81-year-old pensioner received a call on her landline number around 11 a.m. yesterday, Wednesday. A male person called "Police Munich". The unknown caller stated that the pensioner's daughter had recently run over a pedestrian in Munich. The daughter would need a bail of 42,000 euros due to her guilt in the accident, otherwise she would have to be arrested immediately. The brazen fake policeman then asked for the cell phone number of the completely perplexed pensioner, which she immediately sent to him. The caller then asked his victim to go to their bank immediately and withdraw the money. After the elderly woman explained that she did not have a car to get to her bank, he asked for her address and said he would send her a taxi.

In fact, a short time later there was a taxi in front of her door. Out of sheer excitement, the 81-year-old forgot her cell phone and took a taxi to her bank. Luckily, the bank clerk responded promptly and told her customer that such a large sum was not in stock. Therefore, the pensioner left the bank again without having made a withdrawal. She drove to her niece in the waiting taxi because she was so excited that she had forgotten her apartment key at home and told her the whole story. The niece was immediately aware that it was a so-called shock call and then informed the Gauting police.

In the meantime, her mobile phone at home has been called six times.

On the seventh call at around 1:20 p.m., the 55-year-old daughter had just come home and answered her mother's phone. This time a female person named Meier answered and asked in a demanding tone where she "landed".

After the daughter energetically asked a counter-question, the unknown caller immediately ended the conversation.
