The Palais Galliera could not reopen in early April, as planned after the two years of work. The curious will still have to wait to admire the renovated space and its 670 m2 gained. In the meantime, the institution offers thematic routes around its digital collections on the Paris Musées site. Among them, Women's fashion and sport, 1880-1939in collaboration with the Carnavalet Museum, retraces, through around thirty works (archives, illustrations, paintings), the sociology that hides behind a baggy bag of bicycle from the Belle Époque, symbol of the emancipation of the body linked to activities outside. Or behind
the first flexible knitted creations of Parisian houses
in the Roaring Twenties (Schiaparelli, Patou, Lucien Lelong) and of course, the beach accessories including this swimsuit imagined by Jeanne Lanvin dating from 1924 ( our photo ).
