Faced with the large screens that double from companies like Samsung or Huawei, LG has opted in recent years for terminals with an optional accessory screen.
Some of their mobiles open like a book and favor
multitasking
.
But now the South Korean manufacturer returns to the fray with a totally groundbreaking concept.
The LG Wing, presented Thursday in Spain, it is a mobile dual swivel screen capable of adopting a shape that resembles the letter
T
.
The design of this
smartphone,
which will be available from November 1 for 1,099 euros, is different from any other terminal on the market.
If it is folded, it looks like it is a traditional mobile.
But as soon as it is unfolded, the top screen rotates 90 degrees clockwise and becomes horizontal.
In this way, part of the lower screen (which remains vertical) is exposed.
The main screen is 6.8 inches.
The secondary is 3.9 inches.
The South Korean brand ensures that the LG Wing's hinge mechanism has proven to work perfectly even after 200,000 turns.
But, to what extent can a mobile with this design be useful?
It is still too early to know if this type of terminal can have a future or will only remain in a bizarre and risky proposal of the South Korean brand.
LG Wing is the first

It is the new strategic line of mobile phones from the Korean brand that advocates for innovative and avant-garde devices to change the way of understanding technology.
That the brand brings out other groundbreaking devices "will not depend on the success or failure or sales of the model," according to Nacho Ángel, director of mobile communications at LG Spain.
Users can choose whether to use the
smartphone
, which weighs 260 grams, as if it were any terminal or in rotary mode.
Unfolded, the mobile can be used so that when playing a video game, the lower screen becomes the
joystick
.
In addition, there are some
adapted
apps
.
For example, when using YouTube, the video is played on the main screen and the accessory screen shows comments or the search bar.
In the gallery, the user can also use the secondary screen as an editing palette while the video or photo is displayed on the main screen.
LG has not specified the specific number of applications that today have been specifically adapted for this terminal.
The mobile can also display two different applications at the same time - one on each screen.
"We have all experienced a situation in which you are watching a movie and a call or notification comes in and you have to close it," said Alberto Cáceres, from LG Spain.
With the LG Wing, the user could watch a video on the horizontal screen while searching for something on the Internet, checking notifications, or chatting in high school.
In fact, it is possible to design predefined pairs of applications that are commonly used together to open them simultaneously.
LG maintains that the rotary mode can also be useful when driving, as it allows you to follow the map instructions on the main screen and reserve the second screen for calls - which on some phones would cover the map.
Cameras and 5G
The 32-megapixel front camera does not cloud the screen with holes but is hidden and has a
pop-up
mechanism
that unfolds it.
LG Wing also has three rear cameras: a 64 megapixel main sensor and two 12 and 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle sensors.
The terminal incorporates a
gimbal
recording
function
, which serves to stabilize videos without the need for additional accessories.
Another curious function is to perform a dual recording using the 32 megapixel pop-up camera and one of the rear cameras simultaneously.
The results can be saved together in a single file or in two separate files.
LG Wing has a Snapdragon 765G processor and is compatible with 5G networks.
Today, 5G connections reach average speeds 10 times higher than 4G — although it is expected that they will become 100 times faster in the future.
They also allow low latency, something that
gamers
will especially notice
.
The terminal has 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage (expandable to up to 2TB with a microSD) and 4,000 mAh of battery with fast charge.
