- While the decision on how to solve the space problems in the fire station has not yet made any concrete progress, another project of the municipality as the carrier of the Warngau fire brigade is on the home straight: the procurement of a new LF 20 fire fighting group vehicle for the 32-year-old Veteran to replace the military.

As Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG) announced in the public meeting of the municipal council, the committee has awarded the contracts.

The costs add up to a good half a million euros

The contract was awarded to the Lentner company for the chassis (112,000 euros) and the body (308,000 euros), and the Ziegler company for loading the necessary equipment (74,000 euros) and the portable pump (16,000 euros).

The prices were within the expected range, explains the town hall chief when asked.

This means that the fire engine will cost a good half a million euros, minus subsidies.

It will be months before the new fire truck arrives at the Warngauer Wehr. The town hall chief expects delivery in the first quarter of 2022. That would be just in time: the general inspection of the LF 16/12 of the Warngauer weir, which is to be replaced, is due in January 2022. And in all likelihood that could only be achieved with investments that are no longer in proportion.

By the way, the purchase of the new fire engine is the first EU-wide tender that the municipality of Warngau had processed via the new "central procurement office" at the municipal service center (KDZ) Oberland.

On behalf of many municipalities in the region, it organizes the tendering of public contracts with a cost volume of more than 25,000 euros, because these - especially when it comes to EU-wide tenders - require more and more specific specialist knowledge.

“We don't have the know-how for this in our small communities,” says Thurnhuber.
