The health authorities in Germany announced a new record increase in the number of daily infections with the Corona virus.
And the Robert Koch Institute recorded a record number of 39,676 infections during the past 24 hours, compared to the previous record recorded last Friday, which amounted to 37,120 cases of the virus.
The institute indicated that the rate of injuries in Germany rose to 232.1 cases per 100,000 people during the past seven days.
“We have a real emergency at the moment and we have to do something now,” said Christian Drosten, head of the virology department at the Charité Hospital in Berlin, as government officials confirmed their refusal to close and appealed to residents to get vaccinated instead.
