A new variant of Covid-19 has been detected in South Africa, the African country officially the most affected by the pandemic and which is experiencing a new increase in contamination, scientists announced Thursday.

Unfortunately, we have detected a new variant which is of concern in South Africa,
” virologist Tulio de Oliveira told a press conference.
