There, Mayor Sandra Perzul and her representatives as well as District Administrator Thomas Eichinger honored and thanked the former head of the community in Dießen.
And delighted it with a special painting.
Kirsch was mayor for over 24 years and has made a name for himself in a variety of ways for his home community. His commitment in the field of art and culture was particularly great. He played a key role in maintaining and relocating the Dießen pottery market from its former location, from the Sudau site on Rotter Strasse to the lake facilities. Here the market developed into Europe's largest and internationally recognized ceramics market.
Herbert Kirsch was always aware that the market town has to preserve and cultivate a cultural heritage beyond the pottery market.
The famous composer Carl Orff lived in Dießen until his death in 1982, which prompted Kirsch to campaign for the Carl Orff Foundation to be relocated to the market town.

It is now in the former home of the important music teacher, where the Carl Orff Museum is to be built over the next two years.
An expansion of the school location in Dießen was realized with the construction of the Ammersee-Gymnasium under the aegis of Herbert Kirsch.
The foundation stone was laid on May 7, 2005. The kindergartens in Dettenschwang and Riederau were also built.
Herbert Kirsch made a last big stroke of luck as mayor with the acquisition of the lake property in St. Alban south of the lake restaurant. For almost eleven years he had been working towards the purchase of the almost 9,000 square meter area. On his last day of work as mayor of the market town, he finally signed the sales contract with his official signature.
Sandra Perzul's successor in office expressed her thanks and appreciation for the "decades of persistent commitment" on behalf of the market community.
She very much regretted that due to the current Corona situation, an appropriate farewell to all council members and Kirsch's long-term companions was currently not possible.
As a gift, she presented her predecessor with a painting by the painter Michael von Schweinitz.
The "Schwedeninsel", one of the artist's last works, was painted by Herbert Kirsch for the market town;
