The Daraa Agriculture Directorate has developed its plan for the new agricultural season 2022-2023, with regard to the strategic crops of wheat, barley and food legumes.
The head of the Planning and International Cooperation Department in the directorate, Eng. Hassan Al-Ahmad, said in a statement to SANA reporter today, that the plan includes planting 93,387 hectares of wheat, of which 10,500 hectares are irrigated, and the rest is rainfed, adding: The planned area for the barley crop in the new season is 32,422 hectares, and with food legumes. “Homs, lentils, beans and peas” amounting to 23,265 hectares.
Al-Ahmad indicated that the directorate focused in its new plan on the issue of producing the need for self-sufficiency, and increasing the area of food legumes, due to the actual need for this crop.
