FC Langengeisling has caught a top player from the highest amateur league and is bringing back a hero.

Langengeisling - double stitched holds better?

FC Langengeisling has added a golden edge: a triple solution for the successor to coach Mario Sinicki.

From July 1st, Maxi Hintermaier will be the FCL player coach.

The 29-year-old, currently still a regular at SV Heimstetten, will have two assistant coaches: Douglas Wilson, who is already active, and Marco Zehner, who led the FCL into the regional league as a coach in 2015.

"That was our absolute dream solution", says Maximilian Maier, sporting director and at the same time high performer in the team of the current regional league table leader.

“With Marco we have an experienced man on the sidelines who is held in high regard by the entire club and has great authority in the team.

He's practiced almost all of them before. ”The same applies to Douglas Wilson, who will stay with the regional division club as a player.

These two experienced people are the perfect complement to Hintermaier, "whom we want to enable entry into the coaching business," says Maier.

Regular player in the regional league

Hintermaier came to Heimstetten through his hometown club SV Walpertskirchen, FC Moosinning and Kirchheimer SC.

He has been playing for SVH for seven years and has played 23 of the 25 games in the current regional league season.

He has worked extremely hard for his status as a regular player, he said recently in an interview with Münchner Merkur.

"I have noticed time and again that I have missed certain things in football training compared to other players because I have never been to a youth academy or a big club." He made up for a lot through struggle and will.

The impression he made on the Geislingen officials was correspondingly.

“Maxi Hintermaier took off in no time at all,” says Maier.

"He doesn't let it be seen that he has already played 154 games in the Bayernliga and the Regionalliga." No, he doesn't think anything about that, assures Hintermaier.

"I'm just someone who defends on the left."

But finally in the regional league - that should be an additional motivation for future opponents in lower leagues.

“I haven't thought about that yet,” says the 29-year-old.

He is simply grateful to the FCL for giving him this chance.

Hintermaier admits that he didn't have the Langengeislinger on his screen earlier.

“But I was professionally involved in the construction of the new clubhouse.

And then I noticed that this club was in motion.

Something stirs. ”The first contact was made through FCL boss Sepp Kaiser.

Discussions with the two sporting directors followed - besides Maier, this is also the FCL soccer brain Ernst Stenzel - after which the decision was quickly made.

It was also helpful that the club and the new coach want to integrate young players and have a similar game philosophy.

“Technically clean and brave play out the back, a neat flat and short passing game” - this is how Maier outlines the FCL style of play.

“Not just long wood forward,” adds Hintermaier and reveals that even in the regional league, wide balls are often used - but not in Heimstetten, where he wants to finish this season.

Hintermaier raves about the “great time” he was able to spend there, “but I'm already excited about the new task”.

See you again with Sebastian Schimschal

He has not yet seen an FCL game, "that was not possible because of Corona".

He still knows Sebastian Schimschal from their time together at Kirchheimer SC.

Another big plus of the club is the artificial turf pitch.

“I think that's very important, because how else do you want to train in winter?” He attaches great importance to work during the week anyway.

“Anyone who knows me knows that as a player I hardly missed a unit, but I'm not worried at Geisling either.

Participation in training is very good, I was told. "

Where will Hintermaier's place as a player be?

In Heimstetten, the left side belongs to the left footer.

“He could certainly also take over the defensive headquarters with us,” says Maier.

"I help where it is best for the team," says Hintermaier, recalling his aggressive days in Walpertskirchen.

The question still remains: regional league kickers, two assistant coaches - how can the FCL afford that?

Maier's answer to this: “With us, no player gets a cent.

After the final whistle there is one or two kegs of beer because we just like to sit together afterwards.

And because of the coaches, we don't have to lean out the window financially.

It is a payment that is customary in the industry. "
