The publication was allowed today (Wednesday) that a resident of Umm al-Fahm was arrested and charged with smuggling weapons, goods, vehicles and illegal residents through a pirate gate that broke through the separation fence.

The investigation revealed that the 38-year-old "took over" a section of the separation fence near his house and placed gates in it.

Thus, anyone who was interested in entering through them was required to pay him a passage fee, including pedestrians and cars.

The investigation also revealed that for a fee, and systematically, illegal occupants, stolen vehicles, goods and weapons passed through the loophole.

The 38-year-old even operated several other suspects remotely, including residents of the territories whose job it was to collect money from people who wanted to move.

Moreover, the suspects carried out observations on behalf of the Umm al-Fahm resident of the IDF and police forces operating in the area, so that they would not thwart their activities. All this for a fee ranging from tens to hundreds of shekels for each transfer of people, vehicles and goods.

During the move to an open investigation, about two months ago, IDF forces and border guards arrested two young men from the village of Khirbet a-Taibeh, in the Occupied Territories, on suspicion of involvement in an affair on the Palestinian side of the separation fence.

In April, police detectives arrested three Umm al-Fahm residents on suspicion of involvement in the Israeli side of the perimeter fence.

At the request of the police, the detention of the suspects was extended from time to time in the military court in Samaria and in the Magistrate's Court in Acre.

Yesterday, the prosecution filed an indictment in the Haifa District Court against a resident of Umm al-Fahm.

In the indictment, he is charged with weapons offenses, aiding and abetting illegal stay in Israel, and Helena illegally.
