Ms. Tang Yu was appointed CEO of NetDragon Websoft, a Chinese leader in video games and online education services, headquartered in Fujian province (opposite Taiwan).
Nothing could be more banal, except that this "woman", on whom the 6,000 employees of the Chinese multinational now depend, is a robot.
"The appointment of Ms. Tang Yu reflects our commitment to fully embrace the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to change the way we operate our business and ultimately drive strategic growth,"
explained in a press release Liu Dejian, the creator (in 1999) of NetDragon Websoft, who will nevertheless keep the subordinate role of “executive director”.
This is a world first: ubiquitous in factory workshops, robots had never had access to the boardroom.
The new president will not receive any salary or stock options, it is specified.
