A Malaysian naval support ship collided today with an oil platform off Sarawak on the island of Borneo in the Indian Ocean, leading to the sinking of one of its crew members.
Reuters quoted Muhammad Zubil Matt Sut, head of the Malaysian Maritime Law Enforcement Agency, as saying in a statement that the Dayang Topaz collided with the Pyramp oil platform it was serving after the anchor was cut off due to the turbulent weather.
Zobel added that one of the crew members drowned after jumping into the sea with 124 others who were later rescued.
