As-Suwayda-Sana
In it, years of fatigue, research, accumulated experiences, and determination to work reflected a home workshop established by a woman from Sweida and dedicated to the production of natural herbal extracts.
Amira Abu Assaf explained during her interview with SANA reporter how she started establishing her small workshop in her home in Adra al-Omaliah in 2011, when the crisis conditions made her resist and endure the hardship of demolishing her husband’s house as a result of terrorist acts.
The 54-year-old princess indicated that the workshop, which became a source of income, stability and support for her family, is the result of the experiences she gained successively over the course of about 30 years and access to many experiences and the use of expertise working in this field.
Amira’s work, she says, depends on bringing green herbs from the prairies sometimes and drying them or dried land from the market to be squeezed by a machine, distilling them and extracting oils from them that are multi-use, as well as adding beeswax to them to manufacture creams and mixing a type of coconut oil with glycerin to manufacture medical soap As well as the installation of natural herbal mixtures that have a variety of benefits.
Long hours of work that Amira spends daily, up to 16 hours, to market her products inside and outside the governorate through acquaintances, friends and participation in exhibitions, as well as to some Arab countries, as I mentioned.
In front of her attendance at dozens of exhibitions, Amira received many certificates of appreciation, including for her active participation in the market and exhibition of rural women’s products that was held in Tishreen Park in Damascus in 2018, and in the third environmental festival held by the Ministries of Local Administration, Environment and Tourism, Damascus Governorate, and the Forum for Change and Development Makers in As-Suwayda, among others.
Great ambitions borne by Umm Amir, who holds a certificate of craftsmanship, art products and collecting flowers from the Federation of Craftsmen, to expand her workshop, especially in light of her great love for work and the state of optimism within her, which she reflects on her family members.
What Amira has succeeded in her workshop, she owes to the Directorate of Rural Women in the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, which gave her the opportunity to start and show her work, indicating that she also manufactures various handicrafts such as accessories, antiques and candles and sells them on demand, in addition to doing many works such as painting and repairing some broken things and others.
According to the head of the Rural Women's Department in the Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida, Engineer Mohsna Abu Samra, Amira participated with the department in two exhibitions in Damascus and an exhibition in Sweida, and her works were well received and approved, and that her work is the result of her perseverance.
