A woman in her twenties was stabbed to death, and her 23-year-old companion seriously injured on Friday evening in the Toulouse area, the prosecution told AFP on Saturday.

The gendarmes had been called Friday evening by residents of a suburban district of Saint-Orens (Haute-Garonne) where they found a bloody man on the public highway.
The injured young man explained to them that he had been stabbed by someone who wanted to kill him, pointing to a nearby house, in front of which the gendarmes found the lifeless body of his companion.

A 27-year-old man, who knew the victims, was taken into custody during the night and “
an investigation for murder has been opened
”, he further specified.
The prosecution also clarified that the detainee had to be hospitalized due to a hand injury.
