The double mental and verbal handicap, who was born with the young woman Ikhlas Odeh, from Daraa Governorate, did not prevent her from continuing her life normally and excel over her peers, especially in the sports field.

The 28-year-old has succeeded with diligence and perseverance in achieving sporting achievements at the global level, winning various gold, silver and bronze medals.

Because of the difficulty of communicating with her because of her disability, we reviewed with one of her coaches Habis Al-Masalma her sports career. He said in a statement to the SANA Youth Bulletin: The young woman Ikhlas started her sports career at an early age by practicing athletics, and after years of training, she participated in the seventh regional session of the Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa, hosted by Syria with the participation of 23 countries, and won four medals in various athletics.

He added that the young woman managed in the Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Athens, Greece, to win two gold and bronze medals in the 400-meter running and light ball, a sport for people with intellectual disabilities, stressing that the training process continued and the young woman was making great efforts to hone her skills and achieve achievements.

Al-Masalama also indicated that 2019 witnessed Ikhlas Aouda's selection to participate in the World Games of the Special Olympics in the United Arab Emirates, and she won two gold and silver medals in the bowling game, which was transferred to her because of her skill in this field.

The Supervisor of Ikhlas training from the years of Fatima Ali said: The young woman suffers from a double mental and speech disability, as she joined the Community Rehabilitation Center for people with disabilities from 2000 to 2008, where she received special education, and she participated in all the center's activities, especially sports.

She added: The young woman Ikhlas joined the Syrian Special Olympics in 2005 and is still there to date, and through it she participated in several world championships and won various medals in athletics.
