A new AllJobs survey examined the way employees behave during the great freedom in Israel.
The survey included 331 male and female workers, parents of children up to the age of 15. The survey shows that 32% of parents were left without days off for exploitation.
40% of parents who are unable to take enough days indicated that they would be deducted from their salary for each day off they took, and 8% indicated that they intended to work from home.
59% indicated that there is a total ban on the employer bringing children to the workplace, so this solution is irrelevant, in part because since the outbreak of the corona, some workplaces have restricted this option.
The gaps between men and women in terms of wage levels have been reported quite a bit.
The survey shows that the gaps are also evident in the amount of vacation days that men and women are expected to take during the big vacation in July and August, and also in the amount of vacation days that each has.
26% of men answered that they would not take advantage of any day, compared to 7% of women.
In addition, 31% of women indicated that they would take more than 10 days off this summer compared to 14% of men.
Another gap between men and women was found in the amount of days off used.
42% of men indicated that they had more than 10 days off compared to 24% of women.
In addition, 58% of women indicated that they have no vacation days at all and up to 5 days in total, compared to 43% of men.
By law, an employee is entitled to 14 days of vacation a year.
However, this is an issue that is open to negotiation during recruitment and also in annual wage talks. The division between men and women shows that 54% of women and 47% of men receive vacation days in accordance with the law and 29% of women and 36% of men indicated that they receive more From 16 vacation days. It also shows that 72% did not negotiate the amount of vacation days and accepted the employer's offer.
Women take care of children
Women demand more - 31% of them demanded a higher number of vacation days during the negotiation of signing a contract or during the work period, compared to 25% of men. % Of women prefer to save the holidays for July and August, compared to 38% of men.
"Similar to the existing pay gaps between women and men, it can also be seen that in terms of vacation days and working conditions, the gaps are maintained," says Liat Ben-Torah Shoshan, director of the career management department at AllJobs.
"Women are the main parent in caring for children and as a result they are the ones who actually negotiate their vacation days, unlike men who stated that they do not expect significant utilization of the vacation days.
Also, most women will try to save the holidays for the end of the year without success while men admit that they do not give up work days during the children’s illness, strike or vacation.
Until the perception that women are the secondary breadwinners changes, there will be no change. "
