The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, decreed three days of mourning after the collapse of a section of the overpass of the Mexico City metro.

Metro director refuses to resign after collapse

The director of the Mexico City metro, Florencia Serranía, refused to resign after the collapse of a section of the overpass that killed at least 24 people.
At a press conference held on Tuesday with the local authorities, Serranía said: «I believe that I am going to collaborate with the Prosecutor's Office so that the cause of this structural failure is known, and I believe that is what we all want, that it reaches the bottom ", He said.
Serranía emphasized that he will work in the investigation of the disaster.
"I want to tell you that I am going to continue working and I am going to collaborate in whatever way I can to determine the cause of the structural damage that happened yesterday."
When the head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, was asked if Serranía should resign, the hierarch said that all public workers are subject to scrutiny by the population.
“All public servants are subject to review by the citizens, but it is also essential that expert reports be made and that there be the corresponding sanctions when there are sanctions that have to be done.
