Hours after it was reported that 12 people were infected with the Delta variant, the product of a traveler who failed to comply with mandatory isolation, in Córdoba,
The Washington Post
newspaper
made public the information dumped in an
internal document
of the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
of the United States (
CDC
), according to which
Delta would be as contagious as chickenpox
and more severe in the unvaccinated
, compared to known variants of coronavirus.
The contagiousness of Delta, reports The Washington Post, taking up the terms contained in that document -which has the format of a slide presentation-, would be greater than other known viruses, including
Ebola and the common colds
.
Through these slides, says the prestigious American newspaper, the CDC urges the authorities to renew the persuasive message to improve the limited scope of the vaccination campaign in that country.
In this sense, they emphasize two central themes about the particularities that Delta would have.

The first is how even vaccinated people are able to catch and infect others with this new variant originated in India.
While it was already known that vaccines prevented against severe Covid disease but not necessarily against infection (and the possibility of spreading the virus to others), the novelty now is that
the contagious power of Delta would reach the level of matching the burden. viral between vaccinated and unvaccinated
.
The second theme is not happy either.
While it has been reported until now that Delta was more contagious than known variants but just as virulent, the CDC alludes to a potential
greater severity of the virus in unvaccinated people
who develop the disease.
It is in this sense that the Washington Post note focuses on how "CDC scientists were so alarmed by the new research that the agency earlier this week significantly changed the guidance for vaccinated people even before making the new ones public. data".
It should be noted that among these recommendations is the
return to the chinstrap in closed spaces
, both for those vaccinated and for the unvaccinated, a measure that in some US localities had ceased to be mandatory.
