When parking spaces are transformed into a cozy lounge, then it's parking day again.

For the third time, the city of Fürstenfeldbruck took part in the day of action.

16 parking spaces provided space for actions instead of cars on Friday afternoon.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- Five young people made themselves comfortable in a kind of lounge on Friday afternoon.

SPD city councilor Mirko Pötzsch has taken a seat on a red sofa.

And in some places there is a view of the green.

Actually, everything is completely normal - if these scenes didn't take place in the middle of downtown Bruck.

The explanation: It's Parking Day again.

During the annual campaign, artists, activists, authorities and associations around the world transform parking spaces into action areas - for the third time also in Fürstenfeldbruck.

Along the main street, the participants make it clear what everything would be possible on an area of 15 square meters - that is how much a car needs - apart from parking.

Mobility and traffic are closely related to the issues of climate protection and sustainability.

So it's no wonder that a lot of the 16 stands revolve around this topic.

For example with Frauenpower4Klima - a group of mothers who got to know each other through the school family.

"We have a social media chat in which we can exchange tips for sustainability," says Carola Heiduschat.

Frauenpower4Klima was initiated by Tanja Azambuja.

The chat chats revolve around, for example, where to find the tastiest chocolate cream without palm sugar.

Or where you can buy unpackaged goods.

Or which bath products are available without packaging waste.

Frauenpower4Klima uses Parking Day to pass on tips to passers-by.

For many, leaving your car behind means: cycling. As in previous years, the ADFC will therefore also be represented at Parking Day - but this time not with the eye-catcher of the past two years. “We did without our bike washing station,” says Adi Stumper from the ADFC. “It was important to us this year that people secure their bikes.” That is why the bike club has prepared a coding campaign in which cyclists could have a personal code attached to a safety sticker on their bike frame. This code makes it easier for the police to find stolen bikes.

The general election on September 26th is perceived by many as the decisive climate election.

The Kreisjugendring used one of the parking spaces on the main street to conclude its U18 election, in which minors are allowed to cast their votes - of course without this counting in the federal election.

With 16 stands, the range of offers on Parking Day is more diverse than ever, as you can find out at the city's information stand.

"We were able to occupy all available space," says a city hall spokeswoman.

"We didn't manage to do that before at Parking Days."
