The "circle" proves with great success that a chat or social network conversation can be much more interesting than a real meeting - even if it is not a video call.
The principle of the "circle" is simple: a group of people live in a multi-apartment building without seeing each other. Each of them decides whether to enter the game as who he is or to identify as a different character: a more beautiful, more successful person or just someone who will not threaten the other participants. They all meet online through the "Circle" app, a kind of social network of its own, which includes the profiles, chats and news feeds that are updated, and each week the participants score each other as they see fit, with the two placed highest deciding who to remove from the game. The one who was dismissed gets to visit one of the participants and leave a video for everyone - where they see for the first time if it is an impostor or they have sent on his last journey a dear person who brought himself fully, just probably not well enough. Along the way there are also various missions, lots of gossip and cracking attempts: who are the ones impersonating?
Until the last episode where those who managed to stay in the game meet, none of the participants have any idea if they are talking about a real or fake profile, and yet, time and time again, they fall in love with each other, develop feelings, friendships and "male brotherhood" - even when it comes to Profile of a man.
The program is not without its problems. Much of the content relies on participants' conversations with each other, which mostly include sentences that are repeated over and over in different variations ("I think he's fake, but what about her, can I believe her?"), Which can put people to sleep for whom a good sleeping pill has not provided The goods. Another part of the time crystallizes in viewers the desire to break down the doors in everyone's apartments and let them mingle with each other, because how many can already be seen people arguing with profiles using voice typing? What manages to keep us alive throughout the series is the desire to see how the participants will react when they discover who is behind each profile, and to that end we are willing to last even three weeks, each of which releases four episodes. That, and Michelle's excellent narration were expressed throughout the show.
The so-called "circle" exposes us to a ridiculous social situation, a world where anyone can impersonate anyone they want and no one will know about it, but we have long lived within that situation.
Dating sites, social networks, WhatsApp conversations - we have quite a few interactions, some with people we have never met, especially during the Corona era when the virtual world took on a huge volume of its own.
The show itself may be light-hearted, funny, and entertaining, but the closer you get to real-life, the more frightening it becomes.
