After a break of several weeks, the USA is again flying refugees from Afghanistan from the base in Ramstein in the Palatinate to the United States.
Since the resumption of flights last Saturday, more than 2,500 evacuees have left on nine flights, the management of the world's largest US air base outside America announced on Tuesday.
"The final date on which all evacuees will have left the country has not yet been set."
Ramstein - About 6,000 Afghans are currently waiting to leave, it said.
About 1600 should leave on Tuesday.
"Since the operation began on August 20, 2021, more than 34,800 evacuees have been processed via Ramstein Air Base," said a spokesman.
"To date, more than 28,500 Afghan evacuees have left the air base for the United States or some other safe location."

At the US base in Ramstein, Palatinate, medical personnel have completed vaccinating Afghan people in need of protection against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox.
More than 8,800 evacuees received the vaccines within three days at the request of the US health authority CDC, the air base management announced on Monday.
Vaccination was also carried out in the Rhine Ordnance Barracks, a US barracks in neighboring Kaiserslautern.

The onward flights to the USA had been interrupted as few cases of measles had been detected.
Around 8,800 people in need of protection were then vaccinated and also received a corona vaccination.
