Berlin's nightlife is getting one of its internationally celebrated highlights back: Berghain wants to reopen its doors.
On its homepage, the club, which resides in a former district heating plant, announced a »club night« for the first weekend in October.
On the following Saturdays too, the techno club wants to unlock its entrance, which is regularly besieged by long lines.
If you want to get in, you not only have to pass the guards of the "toughest door in the world", you also have to be vaccinated against Corona or have recovered from Covid-19.
"We're looking forward to our first club night in almost 19 months," it said on the page.
"Let the bass kick, see you on the dance floor!" This also seems to refute the rumors that have emerged that Berghain will no longer open.
During the months that were closed due to the corona, Berghain presented contemporary art. The “Studio Berlin” exhibition was initially only on view for a short time and, after the most recent lockdown, was presented again with a new display. For this purpose, the Boros Foundation had compiled works by mostly young and lesser-known international artists who live and work in Berlin. Most of the photographs, sculptures, paintings, videos and installations were created during the pandemic.
In August, the Berlin administrative court overturned the general ban on commercial dance events in closed rooms.
It argued that unrestricted openings were still not allowed against the background of the corona pandemic, but events should only be allowed for vaccinated and recovered people.
