After the failed duel of the best British heavyweight boxers, Tyson Fury now wants to fight Mahmoud Charr.
Fury ruled out the planned fight against Anthony Joshua on Monday after a self-imposed deadline, and now the 37-year-old Charr is said to be his opponent on December 3rd.
"I look forward to fighting a man who wants to fight and has fire and desire," Fury wrote in an Instagram story.
Charr had challenged Fury.
"Good decision.
Brother, we will give our fans the best show," replied the Cologne native with Syrian-Lebanese roots on social media.
The fight is set to take place in Manchester or Cardiff.
Despite a verbal agreement a few weeks ago, Joshua missed a deadline on Monday to sign the contract.
"The day of decision has come and gone," Fury said in a video shared on social media.
It was after five o'clock on Monday and no contract had been signed.
"It's officially over for Joshua," Fury continued.
Charr is a big underdog against Fury.
Nevertheless, he shows his usual self-confidence.
“The chance is very big.
Andy Warhol said: Everyone has 15 minutes in their life to become world famous.
That's my 15 minutes.
I'll knock out Tyson Fury in four rounds," said the 37-year-old.
Fury had already resigned
It is still unclear whether the fight will even take place as a world championship.
Charr would have to be listed in the top 15 of the WBC for this, but is currently only ranked 19. Fury's camp would have to apply for a special permit.
Fury had recently resigned as world champion of the WBC association, but had announced that he would return to the boxing ring for a unification fight against four-time champion Oleksandr Usyk from Ukraine.
Usyk had dethroned Joshua as world champion a year ago and recently won revenge.
