In Copenhagen there has recently been more and more anger about e-scooters.
Now Denmark's capital has pulled the emergency brake.
Copenhagen - Denmark's capital
Copenhagen is
banning electric
scooters
from the center.
"Unfortunately we have huge problems with these electric scooters," said city council member
Rune Dybvad
on Friday on the Danish television channel
TV2
.
From January 1, most parts of Copenhagen will no longer be allowed to rent or park an e-scooter, the environmental
agency
said in response
to an
AFP
request.
The city council has yet to agree.
E-Scooter: Copenhagen pulls the emergency brake - "extremely difficult" for older passers-by
Dybvad said that e-scooters lying around are "extremely difficult" for older passers-by.
According to press reports, there were around 300 accidents in Copenhagen last year in which an
e-scooter was
involved.
Scooter parking is already prohibited
in the old town of
Copenhagen
and neighboring areas.
After the initial enthusiasm, many cities have again restricted the use of electric scooters, which are particularly popular with tourists.
In Germany and France, for example, it is forbidden to drive it on the sidewalk.
In
Montréal
, the scooters were banned from the city center again after a test phase.
