Norway will station military forces near its oil and gas facilities following the alleged sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in Swedish and Danish waters.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said at a press conference.
"The military will be more visible at Norwegian oil and gas assets."
Støre said that an attack on Norwegian offshore facilities would be responded to "together with our allies".
However, there are currently no indications of a direct threat to Norwegian oil and gas plants.
A total of three gas leaks were discovered in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines on Monday night.
What triggered these leaks is currently unclear.
According to EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, everything points to a deliberate act.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also spoke of sabotage.
Yesterday, Sweden announced that it would have "military resources" ready.
