At the initiative of the Government, after the death of Mauro Viale, several channels

incorporated the use of chinstraps in television studios.

The hosts, columnists and even guests on Public TV, Channel 9 and the IP news network started this Monday, as well as some programs on TNT Sports and Net TV.

The proposal came last week from the Minister of Health Carla Vizzotti and was anticipated by the journalist Pablo de León in

Clarín

.

But it ended up taking shape on Sunday night, after the death of journalist Viale, who was hospitalized for bilateral pneumonia caused by coronavirus.

The Secretary of Media and Public Communication, Francisco Meritello, told

Clarín

that he spoke with the directors of the television channels "to ask them that journalists wear chinstraps in camera, since they are closed spaces and do not have natural ventilation, in addition to maintaining the social distance. It would be a good sign that, in addition to Public TV, private channels are added, "said Meritello.

"We had discussed it on Friday on the channel and last night I told the Content manager to move forward with the use of masks for all drivers, panelists, guests and those behind the scenes in television studios, to reinforce the measures of prevention and raise awareness in society, "

Sebastián Rollandi, general manager of Channel 9 and IP (Periodical Information)

, told

Clarín

on Monday

.

Rollandi's decision was made on Friday, but the message to his manager came after reading the tweets that were broadcast this Sunday, after the death of Viale,

journalist Nicolás Magaldi,

host of the program El show del problema (Channel 9 ),

 and the infectologist Omar Sued

, one of the specialists who advises the Government on health matters.

"The situation is worrisome. As of tomorrow they will see me driving with a mask in the air. The way we do TV does not change, it changes the way we take care of ourselves. More care and more examples. I invite all my colleagues to do the same. #BarbijosEnLaTV ", proposed Magaldi in his social networks.

We are achieving it.

Is today.

the example is essential.

The infectologist Omar Sued opined on Twitter in the same direction: "It is time to start considering the conduction of television programs as a risky profession. Please

start wearing a mask if the programs are not outdoors."

A few minutes after both messages, Rollandi transmitted the decision to his Content manager, which applies to everyone who works at Channel 9 and the IP news network, which are owned by

Grupo Octubre, managed by union member Víctor Santa María

, former head of the Buenos Aires PJ and a man very close to President Alberto Fernández.

The same decision was made by the Argentine Radio and Television (RTA) authorities for the journalists, panelists and guests of Radio Nacional and Public TV, "as one more contribution in caring for the population, in the face of the second wave of coronavirus infections" they said from the public media.

"Today you see us with a different appearance, but perhaps more common to the one you have every day on the street, in the workplace. We decided on Public Television to

use the chinstrap at all times,

" said Alejandro Puertas, host of the morning newscast to the start the program.

Today from RTA we decided that the workers of @ nacionalam870 and @tv_publica, use the chinstrap at all times as a way to reinforce care and also raise awareness that we must be careful to avoid contagions pic.twitter.com/cIAWUeQdhj

The RTA authorities indicated that with this initiative

they add to the proposal of Minister Vizzotti,

and of different infectologists, to wear the chinstrap at all times during screen appearances, since the programs are mostly carried out in closed spaces.

"We have decided that everyone who is in front of the camera and those who are behind the camera are wearing chinstraps, because we are indoors, we do not have windows and all communication workers are making an effort, from the first day of the This second wave is hitting hard and we have to take care of ourselves, "said the head of RTA, Rosario Lufrano, on Radio Nacional.

Although

the intention of the Government is for the initiative to reach all channels

, this Monday the Public TV, National Radio, Channel 9 and IP started, as well as some television programs, such as Buen Plan, which Iliana Calabró hosts on Net TV.

It will be necessary to see how the other television channels adapt to this official initiative.
