Brandon Happi Monthe drew attention with his free-kick goal against Ismaning.

So who is the 19-year-old talent from VfB Hallbergmoos?

Hallbergmoos

– At VfB Hallbergmoos it is now an essential part of the philosophy to find and develop young talent.

The latest revelation is Brandon Happi Monthe (19), who fought through despite injury problems and scored a magic free-kick goal last week.

The talented central defender meets his former club in a guest appearance at FC Ingolstadt II (Friday, 8 p.m.).

Happi Monthe received top-level training at FC Bayern

Happi Monthe, who lives in Freising, started his career at BC Attaching.

Then came the move to FC Bayern, where the defender trained at the highest level for nine years.

"I learned all the basics of playing football there," says the 19-year-old.

Among other things, he was trained there by former Bundesliga professional Danny Schwarz (Unterhaching, Stuttgart).

In the U17s, the defensive specialist had two teammates who are just starting out in professional football: Gabriel Vidovic switched to Vitesse Arnhem in the first Dutch league this summer and Jamal Musiala is on everyone's lips as a high-flyer with the record champions.

"You could already see that he would make it in professional football," says Happi Monthe.

"With him, all actions on the ball were so natural.

Today's VfB talent moved to FC Ingolstadt and was part of the U19 Bundesliga squad there last season.

In the past two seasons he has made three appearances for Bayern in the U17 and for Ingolstadt in the U19 Bundesliga.

However, ankle problems slowed him down on the Schanzer, which he brought with him to Hallbergmoos.

Happi Monthe against Ingolstadt with starting eleven chances

He is now doing special training to stabilize his physical weakness.

His first goal in the men's fourth game gave the 19-year-old a boost.

He always shot free kicks in his youth and was happy that he was also allowed to play against Ismaning.

"If the team-mates know that I'm good at it, then they'll let me shoot too." He's not afraid of discussions with captain Andreas Kostorz the next time the ball is dead: "He's a really nice guy, he's easy to talk to.

And if the ball is closer to the goal, then Andi is the better shooter.”

The 19-year-old noticed that the wind blows differently among the adults than among the juniors: "I needed some time to get used to it because men's football is physically very different from youth." In Ingolstadt, Happi Monthe has a good chance of starting eleven and could show his progress.

He is also looking forward to seeing his ex-colleagues from Ingolstadt again, who now want to recommend themselves to the second team for the professional squad.

The FCI is considered one of the best teams in the Bavarian league, so Hallbergmoos is an outsider in the third division reserve.
