After years of secrecy: Apple unveils development center in Palestinian Authority

The technology giant reveals that it employs 60 engineers in the Palestinian Authority city of Rawabi - and plans to expand and expand the investment.

Apple announced today (Tuesday) that it is continuing to expand its development centers in the Middle East, revealing a development center in Rawabi, in the Palestinian Authority - after years of secrecy.

In the PA area, more than 60 engineers are currently working on the company's major technological developments, as part of a partnership with the Palestinian high-tech company ASAL Technologies.

The partnership began in August 2018, when Apple began hiring its first engineers in Rawabi.

In the last four years, the team has grown from 4 to 60 engineers working on a large number of significant projects.

Now, Apple plans to expand its investment by expanding the workforce working on projects within the Palestinian Authority.

This expansion is based on a team of 2,000 of the company's engineers in Israel today, who develop technologies that touch on all of the company's products, including, but not limited to, key innovations in the field of chips such as the M1 family.

"By creating more opportunities for Palestinian engineers, we have found a way to focus on a fundamental and important issue in the Middle East and at the same time act in accordance with Apple's core values. We know that for significant change to be sustainable, it must make business sense. "The Palestinian Authority is expanding the range of worthy and suitable engineers for our work, which helps our needs to continue to increase the company's activity."

"These talented engineers at Rawabi are working on a number of significant projects, sharing the same passion and commitment to excellence that we see in all of our teams around the world. We will continue to invest as our development and engineering center in the region grows," Seroji added.

Apple reports that Seroji recently met with President Yitzhak Herzog and updated him on Apple's activities with ASAL Bravabi.

President Herzog expressed his support and welcomed the initiative.
