The Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, through its production and investment plan for the year 2021, gave priority to the cultivation of the wheat crop, in addition to paying attention to fodder crops to support livestock, in addition to focusing on important vital projects that would advance the production process and support it within the available possibilities.

According to the ministry’s data, the area planted with wheat reached one million and 567 thousand hectares of the planned area, which amounted to one million and 550 thousand hectares, with a completion rate of 101 percent. hectares, and the implementation rate of the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic crops reached 125 percent, and the rate of implementation of the yellow corn crop was 102 percent.

According to the ministry’s data, the production of potatoes exceeded 443,000 tons, 15,000 tons of tobacco, 591 thousand tons of olives, 934 thousand tons of citrus fruits, 256 thousand tons of apples, 228 thousand tons of grapevine, 92 thousand tons of almonds, and 46,000 tons of olive oil. Pistachios.

On the 4th of last October, the Ministry raised the purchase price of the wheat crop from farmers to 1,500 Syrian pounds per kilogram, and the purchase price per kilogram of the cotton crop, beloved by farmers, to 2,500 Syrian pounds.

The quantities of wheat seed distributed to farmers amounted to about 73,285 tons, and of barley 8702 tons, while the quantities of fertilizers secured by the ministry amounted to 34,640 tons of triple super phosphate, 60,376 tons of urea, 48,932 tons of calentro and 558 tons of potash sulfate.

The quantity of seedlings that produced reached two million and 700 thousand fruitful plants and 4 million and 500 thousand forest plants. About 1058 hectares were reclaimed from the project of land reclamation and fruitful afforestation. 498 thousand grazing plants were produced and the Wadi Al-Atheeb nursery was rehabilitated in Hama countryside with a production capacity of one million plantings annually and the Euphrates nurseries in Deir Al-Zour has a production capacity of 5 million and 300 thousand grazing plants annually.

The amount of manufactured feed amounted to 49,000 tons, imported feed 783 thousand tons, and the amount of cow milk produced 5,562 tons. More than 96 million table eggs, about 6 million hatching eggs, and more than two million chicks were produced.

The ministry has licensed 3 new veterinary drug laboratories, and the total value of veterinary drug exports to foreign markets has exceeded two million and 700 thousand dollars.

Seven research stations were rehabilitated in Deir ez-Zor, Hama, Quneitra and Aleppo, and three new research units were established in Lattakia, three research stations in Damascus, Tartous and Hama, and a number of laboratories and forest nurseries.

The General Authority of the Badia put 22 wells with its facilities in service in Homs, Sweida, Raqqa, Hama, Damascus countryside, Deir ez-Zor and Daraa.

In the field of fisheries and aquatic life, the number of implemented family farms reached 1218, and 170,000 fingerlings were distributed, and approval was granted to 6 marine fish farms with a production capacity of 400 tons annually, and 1.4 million fingerlings were sold to owners of private farms.

Within the family farming project, the number of families benefiting from it reached 61,057 families, and the ministry continued to grant in-kind loans to breeders who benefited from the livestock development project, where the number of loans provided reached 1,840 loans worth 871 million Syrian pounds.

The Ministry’s Fund for Mitigating the Effects of Drought and Natural Disasters has disbursed about 6 billion Syrian pounds, the value of the damages caused by weather conditions, and 5 billion and 200 million pounds in compensation for the second batch were provided to farmers affected by the fires, and the number of beneficiaries reached 16,465 farmers distributed in 111 villages in various governorates. The ministry, in cooperation with a number of international organizations, distributed high-yield wheat seeds to 60,000 farmers.

On February 24, the Ministry launched the Agricultural Sector Development Forum, and on December 16, it launched a series of interactive dialogue workshops in a number of governorates with the aim of amending Forestry Law No. 6 of 2018.
