The district council had decided differently than expected
It was assumed that the district councils would choose either “all” or “nothing”, devices for all classrooms or none at all.
But a completely different solution was found in the district council: All rooms of the schools in the district administration are to be examined by a planner.
If this determines that a classroom that is not already equipped with its own air conditioning system can only be ventilated with great difficulty - no windows or too much noise from ventilation - then the air purifiers required by the state government are only purchased for these rooms .
The building committee had only rejected devices in the kindergartens
The building committee agreed on one thing: They wanted to treat all students at the Schongau school center equally, whether from elementary school, middle school, secondary school or grammar school, so the city council had to decide whether this district council resolution could also be used - or find another solution.
City architect: "Air purifier is not a panacea"
"The air purification devices are only one building block to get the pandemic under control," said the city architect, "but they are certainly not a panacea".
And: The devices are not a guarantee that distance learning and homeschooling will not still have to take place with increasing numbers of infections.
Dietrich made it clear that the investments for the primary school are likely to be limited - hardly any rooms are affected, not even in the old building.
The decision of the building committee to retrofit a ventilation system there as soon as possible remains in place.

However, as required, this cannot be implemented by autumn.
The situation is similar for the middle school, as the city builder explained in an extraordinary meeting of the school association.
A device has been in use there since autumn in a single room where there is no ventilation.
As part of the upcoming renovation, the entire middle school is to get a new air conditioning system.
Both in the city council and in the school committee it became clear: You can't avoid regular ventilation despite air purifiers.
The AHA rules will also remain, although it is not possible to keep your distance consistently in all classrooms, said Middle School Rector Frank Pfaffenberger in the association assembly.
The parents' signal does not specifically point in the direction that ventilation devices absolutely have to be purchased.
Pfaffenberger: "But they clearly say that we can no longer achieve a lockdown, the parents want school to take place."
You want to orient yourself towards the tried and tested model
Hohenfurch's mayor Guntram Vogelsgesang saw no solution in the models of the air purifiers that were recently presented in the district council.
"I was shocked: A lot of space is lost, and it's a balancing act, because the volume shouldn't disturb the class."
The one device with two filter systems, which is used in middle school, adheres to 35 decibels, according to Dietrich.
Pfaffenberger also reported that there were hardly any problems with drafts.

The school association assembly decided unanimously to follow the district council resolution, i.e. to send a specialist planner through the classrooms for the assessment and then only buy the necessary equipment. The addition was added that these should be delivered by the end of October. Because there will probably only be a few air purifiers, you may be able to do without a tender and opt for the already proven design.
In the city council, three councilors voted on Tuesday to equip all rooms with air purifiers.
There, too, the decision of the district council was followed, but it was not unanimous, but with 12:10 votes.
Previously there had been quite controversial discussions.
Marianne Porsche-Rohrer, for example, was of the opinion that under no circumstances should equip all rooms.
"The devices are terrible, too loud and generate too much wind," says Porsche-Rohrer.
"And what do we get out of it if our children get sore eyes and ears?"
This time the city council also included the day-care centers (result for the specialist planner also 12:10 votes).
In the daycare centers, too, only three councilors were in favor of equipping all rooms in principle.
