Many Germans who fly on vacation in the coming weeks will pay significantly more for this than before the corona pandemic.
This is the conclusion reached by the comparison portal Check24 in a comparison published on Wednesday.
Accordingly, trips to the ten most popular destinations increased by an average of 44 percent compared to summer 2019.
The greatest price increases were for the destinations Spain (65 percent), Italy (58 percent) and Portugal (52 percent).
The price increase for air travel to the USA (eleven percent) and Great Britain (nine percent) was less significant.
According to Check24, the main reasons for the significantly more expensive air travel are inflation and the increase in the cost of kerosene.
At the same time, increased demand for air travel is meeting lower supply, as many airlines have significantly reduced their fleets.
For its evaluation, the portal compared all flight bookings via Check24 in June for departures between July 1st and September 30th in the years 2019 and 2022.
