Alba Berlin will take off for Israel today (Wednesday) ahead of the Euroleague season opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday (21:05, Sport 5).
Although the Germans will arrive in Israel after preparing much better than the Yellows for the upcoming season, they are convinced that they are a clear underdog.
"With so many new players on the roster, our goal is to get better day by day and from game to game. Maccabi Tel Aviv is better than us. It was better last season, and will be better this season as well," said Alba coach Aito Rances, a veteran Euroleague coach.
"Maccabi signed very good players in the summer and left key players from last season. It had an excellent summer, and for me it is a candidate to do everything this season, including winning the Euroleague."
