A meeting that included the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Talal Al-Barazi with representatives of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Lattakia discussed the requirements of industrialists and traders while applying the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 8 of 2021 containing the new consumer protection law and explaining its articles to remove any ambiguity about it.
Minister Al-Barazi stressed that the purpose of the decree is to regulate the work of the markets and reach a level of good commitment that reflects positively on the provision of materials and determining their prices in proportion to the consumer, the merchant and the producer, pointing to the need to implement all its materials accurately, especially those targeting grave violations such as smuggling flour and subsidized materials and of unknown source. During his meeting with the directors of the Ministry's affiliates in the governorate building, Minister Al-Barazi called for the necessity for the supply controller to be fully aware of the articles of the decree, to educate commercial activities about them, to deal positively with all activities and not to cover up any violation, indicating that the gross violations have decreased by 80 percent since its application.

In a similar statement, the governor of Lattakia indicated that the governorate follows up on the daily marketing of tomatoes from farmers directly to the Syrian trade halls and provincial markets, and to secure the necessary mechanisms for them from public companies for those citizens who wish to secure the transportation of their crops to any governorate.
The director general of the Syrian Trade Corporation, Ahmad Najm, estimated that the corporation markets about 25 tons of tomatoes and other quantities from Tartous daily from Lattakia governorate, which brings an added value to the product by reducing costs, indicating that the corporation is continuing its efforts to extract the material and other vegetables directly from farmers.
In addition, a number of farmers called for plans to establish industries that contribute to reducing costs for them, especially with regard to the manufacture of plastic containers, cork and nylon for protected crops, noting the positive impact of the intervention of the Syrian Trade Corporation in importing tomatoes directly and the need to provide fertilizers at reasonable prices and work to reduce the proportion of commissions in markets.
