Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, reiterated that the occupied Golan was, is, and will remain a Syrian land that we are fighting for its full restoration until the line of June 4, 1967, stressing that this matter cannot be subject to bargaining, extortion, or with a statute of limitations.
Al-Jaafari indicated in a statement during a session of the Security Council today on the situation in the Middle East that Syria has been informing the Council and the United Nations General Secretariat of the ongoing aggressive violations and practices of the Israeli occupation in the occupied Syrian Golan, including forcing our people in the Golan to register their real estate with the occupation authorities and stealing Swaths of their lands to build "wind turbines" on them, and the occupation’s endeavor to Judaize the Golan, multiply the number of settlers in it, and impose artificial local councils in it, which are dangerous developments that were not mentioned by any of the briefings of the United Nations envoy to the Middle East, Nikolai Mladenov.
Al-Jaafari expressed Syria's strong protest against the continuation of the approach followed by Mladenov in his periodic briefings and deliberately neglecting to talk about the situation in the occupied Syrian Golan and the developments he is witnessing in light of the continuous aggressive and criminal practices of the Israeli occupation authorities and the recent decisions issued by the US administration, which represent a flagrant violation of international law and the provisions of the Charter. The decisions of the Security Council and the General Assembly on the Syrian Golan and other occupied Arab territories, foremost of which are Resolution 497 of 1981, adopted unanimously by the Security Council, in which it affirmed that the occupation authorities' decision to impose their jurisdiction on the Golan is null and void and has no legal effect whatsoever.
Al-Jaafari asked how long the Security Council will remain silent about the continuation of the Israeli occupation in its gross violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in the occupied Syrian Golan since 1967, including settlement, racial discrimination, arbitrary detention, torture and theft of the Golan’s natural resources, in addition to that, over the past years, it has provided support to terrorists and aggression. Frequent on Syrian territory.
Al-Jaafari pointed to the continuing threat posed by the Israeli occupation to the security and stability of the Middle East and international peace and security, indicating the failure of the Security Council over the past decades to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security and addressing the causes of tension and conflicts in our region and beyond, explaining that since 1967 it has occupied. Al-Jaafari clarified that the Israeli occupation would not have continued its arrogance and defiance of the international community and United Nations decisions had it not been for the care provided by Western governments that granted the occupation and its representatives immunity to ensure their impunity from any accountability or punishment for war crimes, crimes against humanity and gross violations of human rights that they commit.
Al-Jaafari indicated that the record of the United States' use of the veto to thwart draft decisions aimed at stopping the crimes and aggressive actions of the Israeli occupation is sufficient to highlight the policy of double standards adopted by successive American administrations and confirms the blind bias of the occupation, a bias that has reached unprecedented limits in light of the current American administration that has carried out provocative and unilateral measures. Legitimacy aimed at trying to change the political and legal reality of the occupied Arab lands by declaring occupied Jerusalem the capital of the Israeli occupation entity, then declaring it regarding the occupied Syrian Golan, leading to the occupation authorities ’attempt to annex lands in the West Bank.
Al-Jaafari renewed Syria's condemnation, along with the overwhelming majority of the member states, of these American measures and those who support them, considering them merely a unilateral act issued by a party that does not have the capacity, political, legal or moral capacity to decide the fate of the world's people or to dispose of lands that are an integral part of the territories of the Syrian Arab Republic and occupied Palestine. .
Al-Jaafari pointed out that the stability of the Middle East region and the credibility of the United Nations necessitate taking measures to ensure the implementation of the international decisions related to ending the Israeli occupation of the occupied Arab lands, including the Syrian Golan, and withdrawing from them until the line of June 4 of 1967, in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly Resolutions 242 and 338. And 497 and 2334, stressing that it is a mistake to think that the difficult circumstances that Syria is going through will change the fact that the Golan was, is and will remain a Syrian land. We are fighting for its full restoration until the June 4, 1967 line, and this matter cannot be subject to bargaining, blackmail, or statute of limitations. .
Al-Jaafari reiterated Syria's full support for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establish their independent state on their entire national territory with Jerusalem as its capital, while guaranteeing the right of refugees to return to their homes in accordance with UN Resolution 194 of 1948, and affirming that any decisions, procedures, or deals are inconsistent with the decisions of nations. The relevant United Nations and does not preserve the established Palestinian rights are rejected in form and content and are inherently unviable.
