Algeria: Accepting the membership of the Zionist entity as an observer in the African Union does not legitimize its practices

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the recent decision of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission to accept the membership of the Zionist entity as an observer in the organization will not affect its firm and effective support towards the just Palestinian cause.

The Algerian News Agency (WAJ) quoted the ministry as saying in a statement today that “the decision of the African Union, which was taken without prior extensive consultations with all member states, does not have any capacity or capacity to legitimize the practices and behaviors of the Zionist entity that completely contradict the stipulated values, principles and objectives.” It will not affect its commitment to embodying the inalienable national rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.”

The statement pointed out that “the work regulations of the African Union do not give any possibility for the 87 observer countries outside Africa to influence the positions of the continental organization, whose determination is the exclusive prerogative of the member states,” noting that “the media hype on this issue cannot harm the basic requirements for achieving a just peace.” and permanent in the Middle East as enshrined in Africa and the entire international community.”
