Algeria today submitted an official application to join the BRICS group, which includes Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa.
The Algerian newspaper Al-Chourouk quoted the Special Envoy in charge of major international partnerships at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Leila Zerrougui, as saying in a press statement: We had the opportunity to participate in the recent summit of the BRICS group in China, in which Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was invited to participate, as this summit came out with openness to the inclusion of countries Another member of the group, we submitted our application and both Russia and China welcomed Algeria's accession.
Zerrougui indicated that the rest of the BRICS countries are currently studying the Algeria file before deciding on it.
