Faced with the
serious financial difficulties
of the airline
Alitalia
, - exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic - and after months of arduous negotiations between Italy and the European Union in relation to a rescue plan, in mid-July a possible solution was announced from the Italian Ministry of Economy.
Starting October 15, the new ITA company will replace the traditional - and complicated - Alitalia.
A solution that, in the eyes of the Italian government, they called "constructive and balanced".
However, at the time of the implementation of this kind of resurgence of the airline,
Argentine travelers who purchased tickets
from the Alitalia company would lose out.

What is known
According to what was discussed during a meeting held by representatives of the Argentine Federation of Travel and Tourism Business Associations (FAEVYT) with Tommaso Fumelli, Alitalia's country manager in Argentina and Chile,
all active reservations
with a flight date after 15 October
will be canceled
.
There will be no possibility of rescheduling
because those tickets will not be endorsed to the new airline, nor to other member companies of the SkyTeam alliance.
Air tickets will
be returned in pesos
at the exchange rate at the time they were issued.
A significant economic loss considering the context dominated by inflation and devaluation.
Among other things, it was clarified that ITA will be a company 100% in the hands of the Italian state and that, for the moment, "it would not be part of the SkyTeam alliance, nor will it recognize the Millemiglia program.
This means that the members of the Millemiglia program will lose their miles, although these miles could be used with Skyteam partners until August 14 ", as can be seen from what was discussed at the meeting.
Also from the entity that brings together travel agencies an alert is made:
Alitalia tickets are still on sale
, therefore the recommendation is to people not to buy and to not issue agencies since they are tickets that will go directly to refund.
As for the new ITA airline, its tickets would open for sale from August 15.
It will have a smaller fleet with fewer employees.
