Whether they like it or not: depending on the current situation, the lions will probably compete in Cologne on Sunday.
Because they get to 16 players and then they have to.

A DFB Cup game as a superspreader event?
After the Löwen's round of 16 against Karlsruhe, there were not only 27 positive PCR tests at KSC, but also a corona wave at TSV 1860, which has already led to two game cancellations (Türkgücü, FCK).
"More than half of the team and the coaching staff are in quarantine," reported sports director Günther Gorenzel - and himself took a leading role on the pitch: as a representative of head coach Michael Köllner, who was absent at least until Saturday.
Whether the Löwen can play at Viktoria Köln on Sunday depends largely on whether 16 professionals can be found who are eligible to play.
The training on Wednesday afternoon, the first since the Corona outbreak, gave hope in this regard.
Together with the trained football teacher Gorenzel on the field: three goalkeepers plus twelve field players, including two U19 greenhorns (Julian Bell, Devin Sür).
Missing from the starting eleven in recent weeks: Stephan Salger, Yannick Deichmann and Stefan Lex. Fabian Greilinger also showed up at the training ground, but only in civilian clothes.

From the club it can be heard that there is no way around the lions playing at the Viktoria in Cologne on Sunday.
Common rule, but understandable from the point of view of the association: Even suspended players like Richard Neudecker (fifth yellow card) or convalescent professionals like Daniel Wein (foot injury) and Marius Willsch (adductors) would be counted as deployable players and would help the lions to 16 eligible to play Professionals would come, in theory...
But: At 1860 there is still the residual hope that one or the other quarantine professional will test himself free by the weekend.
The squad for Sunday?
In the end, the cast might be more well-known than it (did) seem in the middle of the week.
