It is the first manned all-mission without a professional astronaut: Elon Musk's company SpaceX has shot four laypeople into space - the futuristic spacesuits are reminiscent of a James Bond film.

It's another milestone in private space travel: on Wednesday, a space company SpaceX rocket launched its Dragon capsule from Florida into orbit.

On board: two men and two women.

None of them are professional astronauts - a first in space travel.

Entrepreneur Jared Isaacman has paid billionaire Elon Musk an unofficial amount to get himself and his three comrades-in-arms into space: Sian Proctor, Hayley Arceneaux and Chris Sembroski.

Time Magazine estimates the ticket price for all four seats at $ 200 million.

SpaceX stages the historic mission with great effort.

Almost all the steps of the crew members can be followed in the live stream before the start: From the hangar in Cape Canaveral they go to dressing up - with the Tesla, of course.

In their futuristic spacesuits, the crew comes to the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center.

A few hours later, they reach Earth orbit.

The civil crew set several records with their flight: the 29-year-old medical assistant Hayley Arceneaux is the first person in space with a prosthesis.

The geology professor Sian Proctor the first black pilot on a space mission.

The mission, dubbed “Inspiration4”, is expected to take three days from take-off to landing in the Atlantic.

Despite months of training: the civilians do not have to steer the SpaceX capsule alone.

It is highly automated.

Instead, the amateur astronauts concentrate on their everyday life in space, some scientific experiments and the view of Earth.

Commandant Isaacman also wants to raise funds for the children's hospital in Memphis, where his colleague Arceneaux also works.

This is where a soft toy comes into play, which has been floating through the space capsule since the second stage of the rocket was dropped.

The small dog not only serves as an indicator of weightlessness, it is also inspired by the golden retrievers that are used as therapy dogs in the hospital.

Tesla founder Elon Musk was also visibly impressed by the successful start of the charitable tourism mission.

If the three-day space flight runs smoothly from take-off to landing, it will be a great success for his company SpaceX with all its records.

She wants to bring more and more tourists into space.

Visionary Elon Musk dreams of a future in which people live permanently in space and on Mars.
