American Airlines: Generation 5 Cellular Network May Cause Huge Aviation Chaos | Israel today

2022-01-18T10:37:38.992Z

The largest companies in the world, including American, United and Delta, are joining Airbus and Boeing, fearing the impact of the 5G cellular network on aviation operations.

Before each takeoff or landing, passengers are required to switch phones to flight mode.

Recently, there have been quite a few reports that the frequencies used by the cellular companies do not interfere with the pilots' regular activities and their relationship with the control towers, but now there is a chance that the 5G that has been talked about so much recently and in other contexts may disrupt aircraft operations.

According to a BBC report, the ten largest US airline giants including American Airlines, Delta and United, are warning of an urgent letter to US aviation authorities including Transport Minister Pete Buttig, head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), chairman of the Federal Communications Commission and director of the National Economic Council , Because the planned launch tomorrow (Wednesday) of the fifth generation of the G5 cellular networks, could cause huge chaos in the field of flights in the US, cause many flights to be prevented and many Americans left abroad.

The current warning comes after a similar warning from aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus, which also came out with an unusual warning in relation to the 5th generation network.

The problem that airlines are alerting to is related to the means of communication that aircraft have for situations of poor visibility in the field and severe weather.

Today these means of protection for aircraft operating in such a landing mode operate at G5 frequencies and thus, in a real emergency situation the aircraft crew may find themselves in real danger and inability to operate the devices in which altimeters and other radio-based means of communication.

The letter sent by the companies states that, "We demand to prevent the generation of 5th generation communications within 2 miles of the airports otherwise huge parts of our air fleets will have to be grounded indefinitely."

The companies also demand to identify and monitor all fifth-generation transmitters near airports.

A move that will likely delay the network's operation tomorrow and cause enormous economic damage.

The Federal Aviation Administration, on the other hand, claims that they are working to solve the problem and that 45 percent of American aircraft have already been serviced and given updated communications devices that will not harm the Fifth Network.
