The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, denounced this Friday that there is a "black campaign" against him behind the dissemination of a video where his younger brother, Martín, appears, receiving several equivalent wads of money to about US $ 7,500 from David León, former national coordinator of Civil Protection of his government until August 2020.
"The intention is to harm me or to try to harm me, it is the usual black campaign of my adversaries, we are already used to this, but we have also always come out of the slander, unharmed," said the president at a press conference.
In this case, López Obrador said, it is a personal matter, a loan.
He also indicated that he has not had contact with his brother for five years, but that if there is a complaint, it should be made.
"If a brother, a cousin, a daughter-in-law, any relative, and also I have already stated it, since I took possession, commit a crime, they should be tried, there should be no impunity," he said.
The video was broadcast on Thursday by the LatinUS portal, by journalist Carlos Loret de Mola.

According to this medium, the audiovisual material would have been filmed in 2015, shortly before the first elections where the Morena party participated, founded by López Obrador and with official registration before the National Electoral Institute (INE) since July 2014.
Through his Twitter account, David León Romero wrote this Friday that "the resources mentioned there were in a personal capacity, the product of my savings and on the occasion of a loan."
CNN has not been able to independently verify the date of the recording of this material, nor to verify where it was made.
In the same way, an attempt is being made to contact Martín López Obrador, as well as León Romero himself, to find out his opinion, but so far no response has been obtained.
This is not the first time that León Romero appears in a video delivering alleged packages with money to a relative of the Mexican president.

In August 2020, the same portal broadcast a call and two videos in which Pío López Obrador, another of the president's brothers, appeared to receive money, six years earlier, during the electoral campaign in the state of Chiapas, in the south of the country.
At the time, David León Romero pointed out that the money given to Pío López Obrador was to carry out "assemblies and other activities" of the Morena party.
The president of Mexico said then that "they are contributions to strengthen the movement ... at a time when the people were the ones who supported, basically, we have been fighting for many years and the people have financed us as has happened when they have led to out revolutions ".

López Obrador added that the Attorney General's Office would be in charge of investigating the origin and destination of what was delivered to his brother and determining whether any fiscal or electoral crime was committed.
He even assured that he would be willing to testify before the Public Ministry to explain "what I have to do with this case."
According to the INE, there is an individual limit on the contributions of money that each political party could receive from supporters.
This amounts to the equivalent of about US $ 100,000.
On May 12, the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Power rejected one of the two challenges presented by Pío López Obrador to prevent the continuation of the investigations that are being carried out at the INE, in response to the complaint presented in August 2020 after the Dissemination of the videos by the National Action and Democratic Revolution Parties.
On June 30, the INE's Oversight Commission stated that there is "a lack of response from the Mexican authorities to provide the necessary information to unburden the investigations and conclude the proceedings," including the file of Pío López Obrador .
