An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit the islands of the South Sandwich region today, but no injuries were reported.
According to the US Geological Survey, the tremor occurred at a depth of 10.0 km, while the epicenter was monitored at 58.699 degrees west longitude and 25.104 degrees south latitude.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck east of the South Sandwich Islands late last month.
The South Sandwich Islands is an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean of the United Kingdom.
