Italian actress Diana Di Mao made headlines last week in her homeland after she revealed that her erotic videos and nude photos had been stolen from her hacked phone, and circulated online.
She claims she went through a nightmare after it was revealed to her and was unable to leave the house, but clarifies that "it is never the victim's fault" and hopes the complaint she filed will lead to the culprits being found and punished - and even raise awareness and dangers around this important issue.
Di Mao, 22, estimates that the hack to her phone was done via iCloud.
She revealed to her 100,000 followers on Instagram: "I'm in a situation where I do not wish on anyone. I'm afraid someone has hacked into my phone, into my cloud. I try to stay strong, but not everyone can. I discovered these videos thanks to some friends. Obviously I filed a complaint Police are trying to locate the leakers and anyone who shares or uploads these videos because it is a serious offense.
"I reveal these things on the social network because I want to get support. I have not left the house for two days. I want to thank everyone who writes to me, from all over Italy. I need this support. We must continue to report everyone who distributes these videos and shares them".

In Italy, as in the rest of the world, attempts are being made to combat the distribution of personal materials, especially of sexual content, and if burglars and distributors are found they could face up to 6 years in prison.
In recent years there have also been several incidents in the sports world of spreading "porn as revenge".
Football star Jermaine Cunningham has been given a suspended sentence after distributing nude photos of his ex-girlfriend and being sent to an anger management workshop.
Former West Ham player Thomas Rafka has been sentenced to six months in prison in 2016 after posting "sex services" of a woman he was in contact with.

According to Di Mao, "I'm here to talk about it, because many of us can do nothing about it. We're hiding. I hope my voice will give strength to many others to complain."
Di Mao may post revealing photos on her Instagram account, but clarifies: "We are not the culprits, the victim is never the culprit, the burglars are the culprits. Today I am the victim, tomorrow it will be someone else, maybe a relative of a person who watches my videos now and smiles to himself. "Those who condemn me are bad reactions. I'm glad the majority supports me."
