An oil tanker and cargo ship collided in waters off Cavite, southwest of the Philippine capital, Manila, without causing injuries or oil spills.
The Chinese news agency Xinhua quoted Commodore Armando Palilo, a spokesman for the Philippine Coast Guard, as saying today that the oil tanker (Rich Rainbow) registered in Thailand was sailing from the Philippines to China when it collided with a ship (Ivy Alliance) registered in the Marshall Islands off the coast of Cavite last night.
"There was no oil leakage in the sea water after the tanker collided with the ship, and the accident only caused holes in both vessels," Palilo added.
The cause of the collision and other details, including the exact time of its occurrence, are being investigated.
