Women, as she was defeated by the 56th seed, Magda Linnet, by two sets to one, after the Tunisian had advanced, and the match ended with a score of 6-4 6-7 5-7.
This would be the most prominent surprise in the tournament, as Jaber was the second candidate for the title, after her remarkable performance and achieving the Madrid title.
Tenth-ranked Spaniard Garbine Muguruza was also eliminated from the first round for the second year in a row.
Muguruza's exit came after she lost to Estonian Kaia Kanepi in two sets, 2-6 6-3 6-4, in a match that lasted two hours and six minutes.
With this victory, Kanepi set a date in the second round with the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad, who beat Spain's Cristina Boxa from the preliminary round with the same result.
