The marquee is up, now the interior follows: Andreas Schöttl (left), chairman of the Rohnbergler, sets up beer benches and tables with his deputy Christoph Schwegler.

Everything has to be ready by Wednesday.

Celebrating birthdays always costs money.

As a club, you first have to make it 100 years.

That's why Parsberg's Trachtenverein D'Rohnbergler is celebrating its milestone anniversary with a big party.

From Wednesday, May 25th, a program of celebrations awaits, offering lots of fun, tradition and cosiness over five days.

From beer tapping to Father's Day celebrations, folklore evenings, classic car meetings to the festival Sunday.

The highlight on Father's Day is the concert with Saso Avsenik and his Oberkrainers.

With the grandson of Slavko Avsenik, who was particularly successful on the German folk music scene in the 1970s and 1980s, the Rohnberg people are backing a popular workhorse, as chairman Andreas Schöttl explains: "We met Saso Avsenik in 2017 at the 125th birthday party -year existence of the Schaftlach fire brigade experienced.

The Oberkrainer Musi has been popular with us for generations.” The Rohnberg people are therefore convinced that they have appealed to many people.

The big anniversary celebration was almost completely canceled.

"Actually, the 100-year celebration was planned two years ago, but back then we had to cancel it in spring 2020 because of Corona," says Schöttl in retrospect.

Because the Rohnbergler were founded in 1920.

The Trachtlers had to rebook out of necessity – for May 2022. “We also had our sights set on 2021, but everything was already fully booked by then,” explains the chairman.

A step in which the association was also lucky, because this year there are no longer any requirements and incidence limits to be observed.

Another advantage: Two years in advance, the people from Rohnberg were able to plan well and implement their ideas.

Because the celebration of the 100th anniversary in the 102nd year offers a lot of variety.

Especially the home evening next Friday is a musical calling card of the region with the Niklasreuth band, the Reichersdorfer singers, the Mitteroim Musi, the Wirtshausbriada-Zwoag'sang and the Plattlers from Elbach and Parsberg, which is rounded off by the Hundhamer Goaslschnoizer.

"100 years is something very special," says Schöttl.

"This is the big round birthday that we want to celebrate with everyone from the region." Accordingly, a rejection weighs on the mind, and another postponement - if it hadn't worked this year - would not have been an option for the club.

"Then we would have dropped it completely." Just like the 150th anniversary of Parsberg's volunteer fire brigade in 2021 had to be cancelled.

What would have been a great sacrifice for the costumers, because such a big festival is important for the association, as Schöttl explains: "Many young people have never experienced such a big festival, and older members may no longer be actively involved.

Because the next big anniversary is only 20 years from now.

If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

But you owe it to people to get involved.”

The preparations have been in full swing since March - and the people from Rohnberg are doing it together.

1100 costumers are expected on the festival Sunday alone, which is traditionally celebrated with church, procession and the end in the tent.

The Parsbergers don't yet know how much this celebration will cost.

"Celebrating birthdays always costs money," explains Schöttl with a wink.

Nevertheless, the Trachtler hope, if at all, not to get into the lousy way too much.

"If things go well, everyone likes it and it costs less, we're happy."

The program:

Wednesday, May 25: 7 p.m. beer tapping with the Elbach music band;

Thursday, May 26: 11 a.m. Father’s Day party with the Niklasreuth music band, 8 p.m. Saso Avsenik and his Oberkrainer;

Friday, May 27: 8 p.m. Homeland evening;

Saturday, May 28: 11 a.m. Old-timer meeting in the school yard, dinner with the Großstoana Buam;

Festival Sunday, May 29th: 8 a.m. reception for the clubs, 10 a.m. festival Sunday followed by a procession, conclusion in the tent.
