The Russian Football Federation announced today the appointment of Valery Karpin as the new coach of the Russian national team, to replace the sacked coach Stanislav Cherchesov, after his early exit from the Euro 2020 tournament.
Karpin, 52, will coach his country's national team until December 31.
The Russian national team will play its first match under Karpin's leadership against its guest, the Croatian national team, in the European qualifiers for the World Cup "Qatar 2022".
It is noteworthy that Karpin is one of the best football players in the history of the Russian national team and began his coaching career in 2009 with Spartak Moscow before coaching several teams, most recently Rostov.
