(ANSA) - NEW YORK, 02 DEC - The man armed with a shotgun in front of the UN Headquarters "has been arrested and there is no threat to the public".
The New York Police Department wrote in a tweet, asking the public to "continue to avoid the area and expect delays in traffic."
The United Nations security service had asked "all personnel and delegates in the UN headquarters to stay under cover" while the area was being cordoned off.
The UN has been in lockdown for hours.
