The war that led to the amputation of his arm and leg did not rob him of his will, but rather gave him a motive through which he proved that the injury does not constitute an obstacle to life, but rather a reason for a new professional life, through which the young man of his forties, Abdul Qader Ahmed, established his small project represented by a nursery for flowers and ornamental plants.
Abdul Qader, who was working as a sports teacher, and after he was injured in a terrorist bombing that resulted in the martyrdom of his only son and the amputation of his arm and leg, decided after his recovery to get up again to establish a business with the help of his family. His small project was a nursery for flowers and ornamental plants in Baghdad Street in Damascus, through which he secures expenses his family and the costs of his treatment.
With a smile full of hope and optimism, Abdul Qader received the SANA team during its participation in the international flower exhibition currently held in Tishreen Garden, where it presented in its pavilion the various types of plants and flowers that it produces in its nursery, including what are hybrid foreign seeds and dwarf types of basil, strawberry, aloe vera, rose, lemon, orange, pomegranate and capsicum And thistles, in addition to ornamental plants, such as Turkish climbing ivy, big red flower, Italian cypress, cologne, camellias, succulents, pendants, jasmine and gardenia.
The saying “Disability is energy” was translated by Abdul Qadir with his enthusiasm, activity and determination while receiving the visitors of the exhibition and providing them with explanations about his products and ways to take care of them at home, stressing that by his work he overcame his injury and regained his confidence and became a productive individual in society.
Abdul Qader pointed out that his participation in the exhibition constitutes for him an opportunity to market and introduce his products, as it contributes to encouraging and motivating the war-wounded to establish small projects of their own, raise their morale and push them to adapt to their situation to be effective and productive in all cases, because Syria needs all its children.
Abdel Qader concluded his speech by saying: “I love my work and through it I was able to build a good reputation that helped me expand my relations with the owners of nurseries and those interested in agricultural affairs.”
It is noteworthy that the 41st International Flower Show is being held by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Damascus Governorate in Tishreen Park during the period from July 18 to August 3.
